Dental Cleanings

No matter how old you are or how healthy your teeth are, you need to see a family dentist every six months for dental cleaning. With good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, you can keep your smile healthy and beautiful.

When you visit us for dental cleanings, we will remove all bacteria and plaque from your teeth and gums. Then, we’ll use fluoride treatments to give your smile a boost before sending you on your way. We’re happy to answer any and all questions you may have about oral hygiene and dental treatments.

Periodontics Care

While cleaning and examining your smile, we will take a closer look at your gums. If we see signs of gingivitis, or gum disease, then we will spend more time cleaning and sterilizing your gums.

The signs of gum disease include swollen, red, or painful gums. When gum disease progresses, your gums recede, making your teeth loosen or even fall out.

Gum disease can affect your entire body. Research shows clear affiliations between gum disease and cardiovascular disease. Unfortunately, you have a higher risk of heart attack, stroke, and diabetes if you have gum disease.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Each year, doctors diagnose about 54,000 people with oral cancer or oropharyngeal cancer. Unfortunately, the death rate for oral cancer is extremely high compared to other common cancers. This is because many family dentists don’t screen for oral cancer.

Every time you visit us, we’ll perform a comprehensive exam. This includes an oral cancer screening because we want you to be healthy for life. During this screening, we will look for swelling, small sores, lesions, discoloration, or any other signs of abnormality. If we notice anything out of the ordinary. If necessary, we will send a sample for testing. When you see us regularly, you can catch oral cancer at an earlier stage. The earlier we can catch oral cancer, the more likely you are to have a full recovery.

Advanced Technology

Dr. Goodling is proud to offer the most advanced technology for their patients. With advanced technology, we can make your visit easier and more comfortable.

During every oral exam, we will use digital x-rays to get crisp, clear images of your smile without exposing you to high doses of radiation. Additionally, we will use intraoral cameras to help us diagnose any problems. In fact, our intraoral cameras are a big hit for both children and adults. Our patients love to see inside their mouths, magnified and in color, as they learn about dental health.

If we need to see more, we’ll utilize our panoramic x-ray equipment. This equipment allows us to see your entire mouth, jaw, and sinuses as well as parts of your head and neck. This equipment is often useful for neuromuscular treatments.
