The Same-Day Dental Crown Procedure

A dental crown is essentially a cap that fits on top of your tooth’s root. We use dental crowns for your teeth when there is too much damage for a dental filling. With a crown, we can restore the strength and function of your tooth without needing a tooth replacement.

First, we will take x-rays of your teeth and begin to work on your crown in our in-office lab. Next, we’ll thoroughly clean your tooth. When there is decay within your tooth’s root, Dr. Goodling will perform a root canal procedure before placing your crown.

After cleaning your tooth, we will file down the damaged area. Then, your dental team will use an imaging wand to develop a digital image of your tooth. This is how we ensure a proper fit. Once we have completed the crown, we will place it on your tooth’s roots and make sure that everything feels normal.

A Candidate for a Dental Crown

You may need a dental crown for several reasons, but you won’t know your specific needs until you come in for a dental visit. When you visit our office, we will provide the least invasive treatments to keep your smile healthy and beautiful. In other words, we will happily provide dental fillings before a dental crown or root canal procedure. We might recommend a dental crown for the following reasons.

  • Restoring a broken, chipped, or worn-down tooth.
  • Holding dental bridges, with tooth replacements, in place.
  • Repairing a broken or worn down dental filling.
  • Covering a misshapen tooth.
  • Protecting a weak or cracked tooth from further damage.
  • Covering a root canal.
  • Acting as a tooth replacement on top of a dental implant.

Whatever your dental needs may be, your first step is coming in to see Dr. Goodling for a dental exam. To schedule your appointment, give us a call at (302) 994-0979.

Advanced Technology

Dr. Goodling has the best technology to ensure our patients’ comfort. Additionally, the most advanced technology means that our patients will have the best dental care available in the shortest amount of time.

First, we have our own in-office lab called Elite Dental Arts. Using this lab, we can create and customize your dental crown to fit your bite’s exact needs.

Our technology also allows us to use air abrasion instead of the drill for minor cavities. Depending on the size of your cavity, we could make your visit even more comfortable and mitigate some dental anxiety.

Finally, if we do use local anesthesia, we use a new formula called OraVerse. This gel reverses the sensation of numbness, allowing you to return to your normal life quickly and effortlessly.
